Marco TorresMarco Torres has been appointed to the new role of Associate Hospital Administrator for Pipeline Health.

Torres reports to Pipeline CEO Robert Allen, who announced the appointment July 11.

Torres is responsible for assessing a variety of operational processes and support services, providing timely recommendations for enhanced efficiencies, including opportunities for centralization of functions and standardization of processes.

“He will collaborate closely with leaders across the Pipeline system, including the hospital CEOs and CNOs, hospital leaders in various departments, other corporate executives and me,” Allen explained.

The new role took effect June 23. Torres reports directly to Allen, with dotted line reporting to the two hospital CEOs.

In a memo to Pipeline employees and physicians, Allen linked the new role to ongoing restructuring initiatives across the health system.

“Last fall we launched an important restructuring initiative to enhance our efficiency and the quality of care we deliver to the patients we serve,” he said. “Since then, we have kept employees informed of the changes we have implemented along the way. Marco will be in position to accelerate our restructuring momentum.”

Allen pointed out that all hospital and system leaders will be counted on to respond to requests from Torres for timely information, data and collaborative discussion.

Four functional areas have new dotted line reporting relationships to the Associate Hospital Administrator in addition to their current reporting lines to the hospital CEOs. These areas include: Food and Nutrition Services, Facilities/Plant Operations, Environmental Services and Security.

In addition, Torres will collaborate with leaders in several clinical support areas including: Pharmacy; Imaging; Laboratory Services; and Rehabilitation Services.

At this time, his priority projects include the following, among others:

  • Collaboration with Andleeb Dombrowski to explore standardization of imaging equipment and processes
  • Monitoring several HCAI projects to ensure accountability among our contractors for delivering work delivered on time and on budget
  • Monitoring monthly expenses – such as electricity — and assessing reasons for any fluctuations
  • Evaluating invoice and lease management practices across the system.

Torres joined Pipeline in 2020. He previously served as the System Administrator for the three multi-specialty clinics that were closed earlier this year. His experience includes 12 years in ambulatory care and inpatient operations at employers including the Adventist Health Physician Network, AltaMed Healthcare Corporation and Healthcare Partners.

He holds a bachelor of science degree from California State University Los Angeles and a master of health administration degree from the University of Southern California.
